A family home with a contemporary southern European charm, Villa Rosa offers a fresh take on open plan living that celebrates light, colour and panorama. The four-storey vertical residence articulates the brief for a comfortable and liveable home designed to adapt to the inspiring needs of a growing family.
The design pivots around the distinctive application of rose-coloured quartzite, featured most predominantly in the kitchen and living spaces, and set against a restrained palette of white polished plaster curved walls, oak flooring, natural linens, bouclé fabrics and European oak veneer joinery. Crafting a luxurious, understated tone, this sensory-driven material selection creates a simple but beautiful flow of movement between the main living spaces while highlighting the vibrant quartzite.
The home distinguishes itself with a simplicity, lightness and freshness that heroes the natural qualities of rose quartzite.
An expansive ground floor living and dining area opens to a generous outdoor entertaining terrace that spans the full width of the building and strongly engages with the landscape. Elevated to welcome in city views, the terrace reveals a bespoke swimming pool below, which includes a circular spa bath contained within the surface of the water.
Forming a strong colour accent, pink hued natural and organic materials create a beautiful synergy throughout the house.
Suspended above the formal dining room table, a custom light fitting by New York-based lighting designer Lindsey Adelman, made from white and gold handblown glass cherries, provides a sculptural centrepiece. In the lounge, an antique, floor-to-ceiling mirror pivots open to reveal a hidden bar, in a graceful gesture of scale and motion.
The design harnesses a narrow, steeply sloped site to its fullest, leveraging the opportunity to deliver a vertical zoned approach across its four storeys, allowing the owners and their children to live both independently and connected. Below the forming living areas, the excavated basement level houses a subterranean retreat designed for the children, complete with home theatre, billiard table and indoor golf room that connects to the outdoor pool area.
A sculptural spiral staircase and lift lead up to the first-floor children’s bedrooms, study areas and communal lounge. Creating a private sanctuary separated from the connected zones below, a full-floor master bedroom suite occupies the upper level, thoughtfully situated to maximise natural light and welcome in expansive city views.
